Antique 18ct Gold Albert Watch Chain
This piece would have been an essential (yet stunning!) piece for a gentleman's pocket watch and has now become a desireable piece of jewellery to wear around our necks. An antique pocket watch chain comes with so much history and is the perfect addition to any jewellery collection.
The majority of Albert chains you will find on the market will be crafted from 9ct gold, but this one has beautifully chubby solid curb links each stamped with a crown 18 showing they are made of buttery rich 18ct gold. The entire piece is a gorgeous true 18ct yellow gold with a softness to it that you can only get from its age.
At nearly 70g of 18ct gold, this is real chunky monkey. It looks and feels amazing on. The graduated links means it sits beautifully when worn and even looks great with other chains.
At a perfect length of 17.25", it sits at prime position in a neck mess to get all the attention.
The links are graduating which means you can wear the wider links with the T bar to the back with the dog clasp and skinnier links on show, or bring the T bar to the front to show off the thick wide links.
The T bar is attached to one of the central wide curb links as the most perfect pendant. This could be removed and used as a separate pendant or with the addition of a wider jump ring it would allow it to slide freely along the chain (this would need to be done by a jeweller - please contact to discuss options if you would like to work with us to change the T bar placement).
Hallmarks: Every link is stamped with a crown and 18 for 18ct gold. One of the central links has the makers mark "WHW". The T bar is stamped crown 18 and also has the makers mark "WHW". The dog clasp is also stamped crown 18 with remnants of the same makers mark "WHW".
Condition: The chain is in fantastic antique condition. Dog clasp is strong and links show surface wear commensurate with age.
