Antique 15ct Gold Opening Capsule Locket Pendant

From our investigating, we believe this would have once been used to hold snuff! It most likely would have been added to a watch chain so that it was handy for the owner. You could put whatever you wanted in it, maybe a special photo rolled up or some dried lavender leaves or a tiny keepsake.
 
We love the detailed engraving that surrounds it and the little gold bobbles to the top and bottom. There is beautifully made hinged top that closes to secure whatever it is you have inside. The gold is 15ct and a rich yellow gold that looks gorgeous in any stack.
 
Condition: Good antique condition with wear commensurate with age. As it is hollow inside to hold items, the piece has a couple of areas that have become lightly indented, but this does not impact being able to hold small items.
 
Hallmarks: Stamped "Patent" on the hinge. Tested a 15ct gold. The jump ring tests as 9ct.
