Antique (1867) Old Mine Cut Diamond Engraved Memorial Ring
There was something about this antique ring that really called to us when we saw it. It's a unique piece that we can pretty much guarantee you won't see anyone else wearing. Not only are the details and setting of the diamond extremely beautiful the hand cut natural diamond set to the top is super sparkly and the entire piece is so obviously antique and one-of-a-kind.
Although there are no hallmarks, there is a beautiful inscription to the interior that reads "C.C. 2nd June 1867". This was most likely for a loved one that passed away and this ring would have been worn in memorial to them.
The band is approx 4mm wide and the diamond setting rises approx 4.8mm above the finger.
The diamond has been assessed in its setting as an old mine cut natural diamond, it is slightly cushion shaped and approx. .27tcw I/J colour - VS1/2. It is bright and packs a ton of sparkle. Inclusions can only be seen under magnification and there is one white feather to the edge of the diamond so it does not impact the sparkle of the stone.
Condition: The ring is in good antique condition with wear commensurate with age. The engraving and detailed side panels have softened with time so are not as intricate as they would have been originally. The gold is a lovely soft slightly warm tone.
Hallmarked: The ring is not hallmarked but has been tested as at least 14/15ct gold.
